Hi, I’m Blur-blur Beatrice!

Here are some fun facts about me:

• I am a Singaporean citizen living in super small Singapore with only 6 million people hehehe
• I am half-Chinese, half-Filipina. I’m very Chinese-looking though. Being mixed is a joy since it has given me more insight into the world and actually made me more interested in culture in general 😛
• ‘Blur-blur’ just means ‘confused’ and ‘slow-learning’ in Singapore slang.
• My main YouTube niche is character design. I don’t particularly care for writing complete stories - I just like making characters and dressing them up. It’s like playing with dolls for me hehe
• I work in a completely different job separate from art and never formally studied art.

My other interests include:

• Culture, history and religion

  • Not an expert in any field, but as someone who lives in such a diverse country, I find having an interest in these topics very important in connecting with others from different backgrounds. Also, these are just intriguing topics in general.

• Disabilities and inclusivity

  • I studied and volunteered in that sector briefly. I try to have a decent grasp on different disabilities. Some of my friends are disabled, after all.

• Zines

  • They’re super fun to make. I only recently started making and sharing them in real life. I’ve always liked journaling and scrapbooking so the skills transfer.

• Teaching

  • I love teaching so much!!1!

• ‘Business and entrepreneurship skills’

  • I took some classes in school and then never got over it.

I love drawing…

• Features in the people I see in real life, from people I meet on the street to the people I love and admire the most. The real world is so inspiring!
• Fashionable characters, because it helps scratch my clothes-buying and gacha-gaming itch (I can’t afford either habit).
• Culture-inspired clothing and characters. I love Southeast Asian culture in general and am constantly craving more characters based off this region. I also like Chinese and Indian cultural clothing a lot!!

I hate drawing…

• Handsome men, because I am nearly physically incapable of drawing a handsome man. It is legitimately one of my greatest weaknesses as an artist.
• Overly defined muscles. Again, a matter of weakness

My art goals are:

• Improve my art in general
• Make more videos
• Sell adoptables
• Find art people in Singapore
